Review: [Bandai] S.I.C. Volume 24 Kamen Rider Ohjya

Figure Information
Manufacturer: Bandai
Origin Series: Kamen Rider Ryuki
Scale: Non-Scale
Height: Approximately 18cm tall
Original Price: 4,725 Yen (2-pack release)

Figure Box:

As from a previous old-format review of the first half of the volume, Kamen Rider Knight. The box is typically your default SIC box, a box with a little extension similar to those blister card types so you can actually hang them. Again, the box is designed to give a feel of mirrors, the series's main focus, you can find Ohjya's and Knight's logos on the sides of the box.

Figure Details:

Unlike Knight who, though uses a rubber-ish armor, looks metallic. Ohjya's armor really does give that plastic-y feel. Though he still looks great and despite the SIC treatment, he still captures quite a lot of how Ohjya really looks like in the show. Again, the use of rubber parts for the "skin" gives a great feel of how it's all leather in the show. But of course, like all Ryuki releases, his crotch pad comes off real easily, so it's pretty much advisable to glue it if you aren't using his frame for another.

And again, like all Ryuki releases, the joints are intensely fragile, some of which breaks with just raising the arm, so be very careful for those who are still interested in them right now; joints are likely fragile due to old age already.

Accessories:

His accessories are only his visor which is the staff and his sword vent. Not much but hey, Ohjya really doesn't have much weapons off his sleeve but a lot of tricks and ridiculously deadly cards. So, the accessories included pretty much does it well already.

Articulation:

Ohjya has the following points of articulation: A ball joint at the top and bottom of his neck, ball jointed shoulders, swivels just below the shoulders, hinges at the elbow, a ball joint on his torso and pelvic area, as well as for his ankles and lastly, a hinge for his knees.

Well aside from the fragile joints, he's pretty well articulated and quite around almost all his poses especially his favorite neck twist upon just transforming. You can also pose him in his rider kick as well as several fun poses for his sword vent. Though I'd say his articulation points are fine, the use of ball joints in his ankles make it hard to make him stand straight and would often fall down once a little bit of force is applied.

Anyway, some fun shots below (vent card used was from Souchaku Henshin Knight)

Final Thoughts:

Well, like Knight's I really won't suggest getting any of the Ryuki riders due to the issues they have but if you do get from the series, this pack is highly advised as you get probably two of the coolest characters from the show already. Ohjya doesn't have much in terms of weapons but he's definitely cool alright especially with the Sword Vent.

  1. For an SIC, he seems pretty weak, at least compared to the other SICs. Still, I'm saying this while gushing, which just goes to show how awesome SICs are. I just don't think he's one of the best, which is a shame since I really like Ouja of all the Riders in Dragon Knight- I mean, Ryuki.
