Figure Box: |
Well, to start off, this is probably one of those situation where I'll actually give praise to a box. Sora's box is pretty portable (I did manage to bring it on an island trip before along with two more nendos) and it just gives off that lively feeling colored with white and blue or rather skies. It's pretty neat considering it's figure line, Brilliant Stage, as it does give that brilliant feel. Anyway, but yeah, the box has a very nice appeal to me. ^^
Figure Details: |
Well, I can't remember too well if this was Sora's swimsuit or just her in her underwear, but anyway, I'd choose the first. As like most swimsuit figures, it's really not much in the details of what they're wearing but rather more on body. But yeah, going to the bikini first, well, Sora's outfits are really cute and unique, and so is her swimsuit, it's a little similar to how her normal casual clothes is, lots of frills and some ribbons, similar to what she uses to tie up her twintails. Though it's a bit nice, but somehow, the frills do lack more crispness to it and while it is an underwear or a bikini, it could've used some extra folds or whatnot details IMO. Well, now to the main dish, the body.
While I actually feel something's lacking on what she's wearing, the very reason that actually made me buy this over a year ago was the body, basically, the details of her body, it's pure genius. The details on her entire body are ridiculously good, almost realistic if you ask me, it definitely gives off that feeling (try it, look at your body parts like elbows knees, observe them and see Sora's, you'll just get the wow factor). The shading on Sora's skin helped on emphasizing the realistic details which, of course, gives a major plus; aside from the skin tone, MegaHouse captures her skin color pretty well, it's pale as we all know it how Sora is.
Anyways, as you can see above, the base is pretty simple, a white circle with the series title "Yosuga no Sora" and its subtitle there, very basic but it's also pretty uncommon to actually see uniquely designed bases that's not produced by GSC, so, it's fine actually. Anyway, Sora's completeness include a towel, you can place in her hands; while the towel actually captures an actual towel's texture, the sculpt looks a little stiff though and could've used much more detail to look more realistic like her body.
Lastly, as a bonus, MegaHouse included Sora's black rabbit stuffed toy she usually carries around with her. You can display it separately or choose to just lay it near her foot, but still a pretty cute bonus though. ^^
Do be careful in handling her when you holding or doing something near the hair as her as ahoge is made up of soft material, so, any accidental force could break it. XD
Appeal: |
Sora's pose and expression matches with each other very well. And believe it or not, even if the original art really had that towel in it, she'd perfectly be fine without it in this figure. A really cute pose she's got and also a somewhat calm and gentle face.
Her pose is actually quite angle friendly for (hobby) photographers, as she'd look nice in many angles, which at some point, is also due to her poses. Applying the towel would make it look more complete and somewhat gives Sora a more cute feel or sly depending on the angle.
As someone who's not really a fan of very skin-showy figures, Sora is indeed very fun to shoot especially if you can bring her to a beach or something XD
Final Thoughts: |
Like I said earlier, I'm not really fond of skin showy figures but yeah, Sora is definitely one gorgeous swimsuit-type figure. Having ridiculously good human body details, Sora's really a win and is definitely one of the best of this type of figure in the 1/8 scale. And yes, I strongly suggest getting her and her price is much of a steal already too; aside from that, IMO she's the best Sora by far from all the releases so far but yeah Alter's planning on making from the series, so, we'll find out soon enough. And for those who wasn't able to get her, she's having a reissue in May and remember, her price went up as ridiculously as high as 18,000 yen before the reissue was announced XD
