Review: [Good Smile Company] Nendoroid Petit Kuroi Mato -Mato & Yomi Set-

Figure Information
Manufacturer: Good Smile Company
Origin Series: Black ★ Rock Shooter
Scale: Non-Scale
Height: Approximately 6.5cm tall
Original Price: 1,500 Yen (2-pack)

Figure Box:

As a petit set, Mato and Yomi's box is pretty small though it's big enough to truly protect them both from shipping damage and whatnot, it's the typical BRS box design where it is styled in the checkered pattern. It's your typical nendo box only downsized this time instead of possessing blind boxes like most petit have. Anyway, I like the colors of the checkers but that's that box will just be a box for me XD

Figure Details:

It's your typical nendoroid puchi here, Mato has that really cute big smile and overall the details are average since I think they can get a little bit more detailed than that since it's a school uniform but still, managing to put folds there is quite amazing and the most noteworthy of all would be the bandage on her right knee, such fun fun detail in such a small small figure :3 The bag is nice but there's no keychain like the one in her figma rendition, while I understand it's small, I just know it's possible for GSC to put the keychain in and make it more unique XD It's probably just me but I think her hair could've used more detailing since BRS did have an awesome hair for a petit.

Accessories:

By default Mato is supposed to have that bag but you can opt to remove it and make it count as an accessory; I could've wished for a cellphone but I guess that's asking for too much from a petit which in their cases happen rarely that you get option arms and whatnot XD

She does, of course, come with the stand petit base and in case you want to use another, similar to the BRS world set, you get a special base which you'll be using to display both Mato and Yomi and the pegs are just limited to just two of them, but I'll cover this later on Yomi's review :3

Articulation:

Mato possess basic puchi articulation, shoulders and waist swivels and a ball jointed neck; but because of her hair style, you also get additional swivels on each tail.

As a single piece, thanks to her smile and messenger bag, Mato does possess the fun factor that allows you to pose her with more than just 1 way and those poses are super cute as well. IMO Mato is really good even if she was to stand alone as a single release. A detachable bag also helps in adding to her play value and lastly, adding her up with Yomi is really really nice (but you'll see them later on in the next review).

Final Thoughts:

Mato surprisingly took me by surprise since again, I personally love Yomi a thousand times more than Mato but in this set, Mato is the real strong piece as opposed to how BRS was the weaker of the two back in her set. Surprisingly very variable in poses, again, as said above, even if it was a case that Mato was separately released from Yomi, she would be a real winner! However, the set though at SRP is more than just satisfying and I feel is really worth it ^^
