Review: [Good Smile Company] Nendoroid Petit Takanashi Yomi -Mato & Yomi Set-

Figure Information
Manufacturer: Good Smile Company
Origin Series: Black ★ Rock Shooter
Scale: Non-Scale
Height: Approximately 6.5cm tall
Original Price: 1,500 Yen (2-Pack)

Figure Box:

As a 2-pack release, of course, Yomi has the same box as that of her best friend, Mato. And for my comments about it read back at review A of the set.

Figure Details:

Uniform-wise, it's the very same as Mato's only difference would really be her arms and legs on how they are positioned. And while I think Mato's hair have degraded a bit in detail, Yomi's hair is as excellent as DM's, ultimately because it had just been retooled from DM, this time having no devil horns and sporting decent shades of brown-ish color but iirc, it's not supposed to be that brown and I don't even think it was brown to begin with since I think it was more of a dark dull green instead of brown but still overall is good. Her bag's also identical with Mato's only retooled to be strapless. As for Yomi's face, well, she has this curious/surprised/non-believing (whatever you call it) face which looks pretty fun but in terms of play, you'll find out what I have to say later on.

Accessories:

While Mato's bag was fully removeable I didn't dare try to remove Yomi's since it looks ridiculously like a tight grip there and if I forced removing it, it might ended up like what happened to my BRS's Rock Cannon. XD Again, there are no bonus accessories or extra arms for Yomi which is quite disappointing since Yomi's, well, shall we say... limited...

Again like Mato, you have the standard base and the special base which you'll see in action in this review! :D

Articulation:

Yomi has the same points as Mato's but, of course, less the tails in the hair since Yomi doesn't have pigtails like Mato XD And these points are again ball jointed neck and swivels in the shoulders and waist.

Because Yomi's hands are both tightly holding on her bag, you really do much variant poses with her except raising her arms a bit and remember that raising one arm will raise the other as well. and raising it too high will reveal Yomi's somewhat flat arms below because of how she's posed and sculpted. Probably the only thing worth doing on Yomi is to tilt her head and that's about it. Disappointing since DM was totally rocking in poseability in her set. :(

Because of Yomi's stiffness in her pose, it's best for her to be really with Mato and this is where the special scene base comes into play.

Being displayed together with Mato does certainly make Yomi's piece more lively since she definitely possess a face that's not meant to be alone. And with the special base, the set becomes the true value of the pack a very cute and wonderful diorama!

Of course, if you have the BRS world set, you can display all 4 of them together thanks to the multiple port that the checked base had.

Final Thoughts:

Special base excluded, Yomi is certainly the weaker piece of the set since again, she's more of someone who's made to be with another person and certainly has a weak appeal as a solo figure. You can think of it that she's more of an "accessory" that adds play factor to a certain figure which in this case is Mato, similar to nendo Yuyuko's wisps' value. But yeah, if you've got more creative juices then Yomi probably won't be as dull as how I view her as a single figure. In the end, you still get them as a set so, you really won't be disappointed unless you sold off Mato for the purpose of just needing Yomi. XD So overall, it's a pretty recommended set, the two really gives off that cute and d'awww scenery, truly the best of friends!
