Max Factory's Upcoming Nendoroid Hermione/Hayate Ayasaki

Lols, a Nendo trap!?

That's right it's a Hayate "Hermione" nendo.

Seriously, I haven't watched the series but I do catch some episodes sometimes at animax. XD Wasn't expecting them to create a meido Hayate though. Anyway, she comes with bunny ears, and a quite a lot of faces.

Justify Full

One of the best selling points of this is that the pack comes with two bodies, yes, if you prefer the real Hayate, this nendo comes with a body for his butler attire. And there it is. :D

Hayate's out for a December release for 3800 yen, slightly higher than other nendos but two bodies are really good. More pics can be seen at GSC's page.

Max Factory's Upcoming Figma Rei Ayanami

The last of the girls is finally up for orders

I don't really collect Eva girls or bots but a certain author here might be delighted to see this. :p

Pretty much like other eva girls figma, Rei comes with a cockpit. She also has an S-DAT player with her. With two extra faces from the default expressionless face that a lot of people love.

Rei's out for a January 2011 again for 3200yen. More pics can be found at GSC's page.

Phat! Company's Upcoming Nendoroid Date Masamune

"Are you ready guys?"

Put ya' nendos on! XD

That's right, Masamune's getting his own Nendoroid treatment by Phat! Company this time. The good thing about this nendo is that the serious face really captures Masamune. But of course, our one-eyed Dragon won't be complete without his removable crescent helm and his 6 claws out.

Masamune's due to be released in January 2011 as well for 3500yen. Pics from GSC's page.

FREEing's Upcoming 1/12 Takamachi Nanoha -Airstriker version-

Nanohas just won't stop and here's something from FREEing

Well really a well though out figure given the small scale.

This was shown last wonderfest and is now open for pre-orders. The main selling point is as you see, the effect parts. But, of course, it can be removed for those who like the figure only.

As for having bonus features, this one does have something to show, the usual, two raising heart options and AND, an alternative pose for the Magical girl.

Last but not least, this is to pair up with an upcoming figure of Fate to display a fight between the two.

She's due for a January 2011 release for 7800yen. Pics from GSC's page.

Kotobukiya's Upcoming 1/8 Phantom Ex-Xecty

Another Xecty variant? Probably... not? XD

Looks like the Shining series is pulling me back in.

Though as much as her name is stated as Xecty, she seems to be a different character from Xecty Ein, since this one's series this time is Shining World Strangers instead of the usual Shining Wind. And stated in Amiami that her name is still tentative so chances are she really is different from Xecty.

Supposedly, when she was shown uncolored in prototype I was uninterested but now that it's colored. She actually looks good and her twintails are said to be ball jointed really nice :D Her stand looks like a figma stand too. So... I'm getting one :3 She's due for a February 2011 release for 6800yen. Her pre-orders went up yesterday or monday I think, pics from amiami.

Teasers: X, Apollo Geist and Date Masamune

Managed to shoot these 3 last weekend

Here are some quick feedbacks regarding the 3

S.I.C. Kamen Rider X from Volume 41

Quite frankly the main reason I bought 41 is because of the other half and to get X only for completion's sake. But after shooting the 2, X proves to be the more worth of the pack. Loaded with accessories and really just dynamic in terms of posing. Though, there is but one hellish problem with his articulation points. What that is would be for you to find out once I review this figure.

The other half of the volume, Apollo Geist

My original intention for the Volume, turns out he's hellishly badass desgin wise but not that awesome in terms of articulation. Though as SICs, they look hellishly good even if they're just standing. :p Whether I review him or X first, they're bound to be reviewed consecutively so, there. XD

The really awesome Masamune by Kotobukiya

As stated before, he was out of impulse but after the shoot, I don't regret it. First I though that he was awesome only in details but heck, with proper lighting, he looks ridiculously as he is in the Sengoku Basara games. Really detail heavy making this figure's biggest factor but he's a bit small though, though his price ain't that bad since he also has some extra features with him.

That's it then. You know the drill, just comment or shout it at your left and the review will be coming along the way in the coming weekend. ^^

Fail Toy... NOT!

Ok, sooo, no initial pics this time. Another one of those quick random reads from me XD This time, it's about a certain Happy Meal toy...

It's non other than the "world" famous Uchiha Sasuke Mc Donald's happy meal toy. If you've been visiting sites like 4chan, Figure/GK, or even in some sites where people makes figure reviews like hacchaka's. You get to see this supposedly for the lulz toy. Why is that? Well, aside from being posed like a person who is pooping, this Sasuke also has a really REALLY fugly face.

So what's up with the blog post and post title? Well, last week luckily, my sis was able to snag 3 of this toy from a certain Mc Donald's branch near my workplace. So, just how is this not a fail toy? Aside from using it for gags from time to time, I recently discovered from Daybreak's Bell that this toy has such sweet and really amazing, not to mention awesome, balance. Apparently, it can hold up a number of things in its head or foot depending on his orientation and the object won't fall. At first, I really wondered if those pics were real soooo, I tried for myself, and amazingly, it's all true. Below are a few samples XD

A bottle full of decoration stones

My PSP

A CD case with around 1/4 full

My revoltech He Tie Shou

So, with that, such a cheapass looking toy is worth getting to try out for fun and whatnot; he even got into the news for his amazing balancing powers. Sasuke was originally available to Japan and Taiwan McDonald's but eventually it found it's way to Hong Kong (we saw it there when we were at HK) and here in the Philippines. His promo period here is long over though, we just got lucky that the Mc Donald's branch I mentioned above had a 3 for 100 Toy Bazaar, so, we got 3 Sasukes for 100 pesos XD

Quickie

"Love" is once again in the air...

Sorry, once again I couldn't help it. For the second time.

Dedicated to all ShotaShota fans out there (if ever there are any).

DON'T KILL ME!

Kotobukiya's Upcoming 1/8 Takamachi Nanoha -Plain Clothes version-

It's just raining Nanohas and Feitos XD

So this time it's from Koto

Though I'm already contented with my soon to arrive Kuji Nanoha, this one's still worth blogging about, basically, this plain clothes version is cute, as my Nanotard friend said, the face is very loli in all means XD Well, as for me, she's really just cute. And yeah, Raising Heart can be removed and just make her your typical loli character :p

Anyway, this Nanoha is out for a January 2011 release for 5800yen, as expected from Koto, a bit cheap but also good enough quality. Koto still haven't upped this their website I think, so the pics came from Amiami, her orders also went up yesterday. :) A partner version of Fate has also been previewed (as expected)

September Hauls: One-eyed Dragon, Loli-nyan and a Group of Vampire Hunters

Well, here's the usual mid-month haul XD

2 figs and 1 UMD this time.

Ok so first one is Azusa, which was here since uh... July, I think, but only got her now due to tight budget and no thanks to sudden good deals that appear >.<

Next one is Masamune, I dunno why I did reserve him, supposedly I was passing up on him since he doesn't really stand out in terms of accuracy of Masamune's face in Sengoku Basara but the details were hard to pass up and to add to it, I found where this figure was based from and this figure rendition was totally better in terms of the face. I also found a review on the net and looks like he's really worth it, so, I reserved him 2 weeks ago and finally picked him up today :D

Last but not least, as a result of having really extra reinforcements. I was hesitating whether I should get the War for Cybertron Soundwave or just get the only UMD of my favorite series for the PSP, which is none other than, Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles. Well, I've played the game and finished it countless times (even finished it already in one sitting at Krispy Kreme earlier) already but hey, it's Castlevania, I just don't get tired of Castlevania. In the end, my desire to revive my PSP proved stronger. so... there, hi DXC umd, and Soundwave, next time :p

Kotobukiya's Upcoming Marvel Bishoujou Black Cat

And I finally liked something from this line

Felicia Hardy sure is lovely with Shunya's rendition. :3

Well, the bishoujou line started with a bunch of Xmen characters but finally others are recieving the treatment, and for Spidey characters, the first one is Felicia Hardy, a.k.a. Black Cat. And really, Shunya did manage to do it for me this time. These bishoujou line figures are really small usually scaled at 1/9 based from Koto's website.

I'm gonna order her for a first in the line. Felicia's due to be released next year February for 6200yen. Really sweet~ Koto's site hasn't put her up yet but she's up for grabs already at Ami-ami.

Max Factory's Upcoming figma Kamen Rider Wing Knight

Yep, when there's Ryu-- Dragon Knight...
There's bound to be a Kni-- Wing Knight.

And today opens the reservations for another SP-figma!

This time is Kamen Rider Wing Knight, I have to say he's one awesome piece of work, and definitely the best of best when it comes to all the released Knights/Wing Knights to date. Who cares if he's common, he's too badass and in a sense, he's really just Knight when it comes down to the suit. Like Dragon Knight, he comes with a Final Vent card, he comes with his Dark Visor, his sword vent Wing Lancer and last but certainly not least, Dark Wing in his cape mode during Knight's final vent. The cloth is made of fabric btw. Even if Figuarts do release a Knight, I doubt they'll be able to beat this accuracy wise since SHFs tend to be thin in terms of body frames.

Priced the same as Dragon Knight for 3200yen, Wing Knight is set to be released during the Xmas season. A must get for any Knight fan, my sister, who collects the non-SIC riders is sure to get one, as for me, this one's really tempting since he IS the best and probably WILL be the best of best above all and I really love Knight, he's my #1 fave rider. More pics at GSC's site.

Ad Continuum Chapter 2 Episode 1

As promised, I have a double update today. This is the first episode of Ad Continuum Chapter 2. Full view here. To see the other half of this double update, click here.

A little behind the scenes if you may.

So at last the time has finally come for me to pick up where I left off. Last time we saw Koizumi getting pummeled to the ground by a mysterious rider. Now we see him face off against the legendary Decade, at least in a dream anyway.

The effects again took forever, and my Photoshop and laptop slowing down doesn't help solve that problem. Still, I think I did a pretty okay job, what do you think? This is actually an homage to the very iconic scene in Decade where Kuuga Ultimate faces off against Decade. It's one of the first scene's you'd see in the series, and for me is the ultimate Decade scene (pardon the pun, if you noticed it).

Anyways, the S.H.Figuarts Decade is a new acquisition, but it's not alone. It came with something else. You'd see it hopefully in the next comic, if I indeed decide to put her in. Murakami Night probably knows what I'm talking about, hehe. Speaking of next comic, I'd try to make the comic updates more regular, maybe one new comic every weekends, Mondays in case the effects or Photoshop become a pain in the rear end again.

Anyway, see you all on the next ride!

Ad Continuum Files Exhibit B

Exhibit B at last! Full view here.

A little behind the scenes if you may.

After a not so long (I think) hiatus, fifthStitch is back babeh! And this time with a double update! I'd be uploading a new comic very soon so watch out for it. I also edited Exhibit A of the Ad Continuum Files. Upon closer inspection, I made a bunch of typographical errors, so I corrected them and made a bunch of other changes for consistency's sake. You can view Exhibit A here.

Anyways, nothing much to say here, except for the fact that this ends the first chapter of Ad Continuum. For all my readers out there, I know there aren't very plenty of you, but it was a fun run. I had to learn how to photograph, edit and layout, and doing so was a blast! I'm really seeing myself now collecting more FIGMAs and SHFs and making comics out of them, in fact, I've been having crazy ideas for some new comics! I would have to put all those on hold though, as I'd really like to focus on Ad Continuum.

I'm not setting any expectations for Chapter 2, except that I would put all that I have learned thus far into making it. Would you believe I've gone from automatic settings photography to manual settings photography over the course of Chapter 1? I didn't even think I could make it this far! Anyway, yeahp, that should be it, lest I count the chicks before they hatch. I'd try to make Ad Continuum more involved story-wise so I guess that's something to look forward to. So for now...

I'd see you all on the next ride... to Chapter 2!

Alter's Upcoming 1/7 Fate Testarossa -Plain Clothes version-

Damn Alter, just when I just shifted!

Well, I just recently decided to drop my Movie 1st Nanoha line but then this came!

I got bored with the faces of the Movie 1st barrier jacket versions from Alter, well, they did have great poses but their faces just doesn't compliment their poses pretty well. So, I decided to get the recently released Kujis, but then this came along, though I'm not a fan of Nanoha characters in plain clothes, I must say this Fate's face is lovely, definitely expressive and the overall look is pretty cute as well. Again scaled the same as the rest of Alter's Nanoha line, Fate plain clothes is due for a January release for 6800yen. More pics of this figure can be seen via Alter's page.

A Thousand Words Page 1

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Every image tells a story, and in every story is a soul that dances among the words, caressing the mind and eliciting thought. It weaves ideas, emotions and sensations that the story teller wishes to express; each tableau of colors is a window to another world.

Thus, A Thousand new Words are born with each click of the shutter.

Welcome to my new "literary" project. I call it literary because really, photography is simply an extension of the literary art that deals with the abstract. Literature for me, after all, is not limited to words or sentences but extends to all media that takes the beholder to a different world, a different dimension. Literature lies as much in the sight of butterfly as in a story about a butterfly, with each telling their own story only through a different medium.

Alright, enough of the literary pleasantries. A thousand words, if you can comprehend my excuse for an artsy introduction, is my excuse for a picspam. You see, I am as interested in photography as in literature (and as I said, I really cannot differentiate the two). While I can't say I have a talent for any of those (and besides, even if I did, they're not really mine, they're only on a temporary loan from God above), I do love taking and editing pictures, so bear with me if you find my techniques amateurish and novice. Still, a little loving would be much appreciated.

I would normally just post pictures of my growing Figma, Revoltech and SHFiguarts collection, but I could also post some other stuff I find scantly artistic. In case the photos are figure related (which they most would be), you'd probably find it in Murakami Night's blog too. Anyways, enough of that, you came here for the pictures, so pictures it would be. I've got three to show today, taken yesterday I think. I'd leave some stats below, comment me if you want to see some other stats.

Review: [Bandai] S.I.C. Limited Kamen Rider Kiva Emperor Form

Figure Info:
Manufacturer:
Bandai
Series:
Kamen Rider Kiva
Scale and Height:
Non-scale approximately 18cm tall

The Emperor
Emperor is Kiva's Ultimate form, accessed by using the mini dragon Tatsulot's feustle. Upon summong, Tatsulot opens up various parts of Kiva's chained armor and then quickly attaches itself to Kiva's left arm, thus revealing Kiva's full power as Emperor Form. Emperor is said to be Kiva's True form and thus allows Wataru to henshin into it directly in the later episodes. Emperor also obtains the sealed Zanvat Sword later on but the power is too strong for him that he needed aid of the Armed Monsters to control the sword by making a limiter for him which ridiculously looks like he's pumping the sword everytime he attacks. Anyway, that's it for Kiva Emperor's bio. Below is his show appearance.

And despite how weird it is, I'm reviewing him first before Kiva Form :)) But of course, it was a requested review by fifthStitch, so here it is.

Box/Packaging:
As you can see in the box shots, there are two of them. This is usually the case when Tamashii releases something exclusive, I call it the brown box of exclusivity. It's more of an outer protection and proof that your item is an exclusive but anything else after that, it's nothing more than a brown box. Emperor's real box is just as what you can see, a red themed box with his logo and name saying that's it's a web limited while the back has one picture of Kiva Emperor's SIC based from the official pic shown at Tamashii web. It's actually a little big compared to other SIC boxes but still since it doesn't have those excess cardboard, it's easier to store.

Details:
Well what can I say, it's the typical S.I.C. Impression that you get an over detailed version of the character, his armor is well-detailed while his cape can be removable, it's made of rubber-like material which allows a little bending for it but it's not as weak as the material used for SIC Knight's cape. His fuestles are transparent while the edges are colored helping you identify the fuestles easier if you can't read kanji. Kivat is just a bit repainted from the original release, enough to make it blend with Emperor's colors so it'd not look ugly. Also his left arm where Tatsulot is attached is just done really really well; as such, Kiva Emperor is indeed a work of art since his SIC rendition did get a major make over making it look way cooler than he was in the show and I never did like the Emperor's design in the show. But this rendition is pure awesome. One minor nitpick though would be that his knee pads are ridiculously loose, I dunno why but it kinda makes the detail less attractive XD

Though not a little noticable, Emperor's eyes are the same as Kiva's such that when you view it complete sideways, it'd look odd XD But still, even his head is spammed with such level of detail, just great.

Paint:
I have to say one of Emperor's biggest appeal would be his paint job, Emperor in the series was too bright IMO, though he had royalty colors, it feels to childish but this baby, it's covered in royal red and gold chrome making the heavy design really really look nice by all means. I mean yeah, SIC often uses dark colors but this one is just insane, since it is using shiny gold, something even King Form wasn't able to pull off. And take note that it's the majority of emperor's color scheme and bandai wasn't cheap at all.

Accessories:
Well, Emperor has quite a number of them, the Kivat bat in his belt can be replaced by a flat kivat bat to make it steady and make it look better actually, but I used Kivat as a whole since that is the case in the show. Emperor has enough hands, a pair of gripping hands, a pair of open hands and of course, his trademark "rock" \m/ hands as well as the default fists. Some more accessories would be 2 extra fuestles intended for Vol. 50, Kiva's use. Of course, the emperor wouldn't be complete without his Zanfapvat sword, and it's complete with the pump action, the limiter can also be attached by a fuestle like part which makes the bat look like it's wearing a helm. Last but not least, we have a miniature Tatsulot intended for fun shots with Vol. 50 or with Kivat Bat.

Poseability:

His articulations are just fine taking on from the Den-O line, it has improved with Den-O's weak feet and heavy weapons, Zanvat is made of plastic now thus, allows you to pose Emperor with Zanvat properly, the cape can also be swung upwards and sidewards so you can really pose him well, the only limit would be the typical shoulder pads but that doesn't affect much at all. One thing that's really notable would be how well balanced the frame is, heck he can stand on one leg doing a kick pose. I dunno if it's only with me but his Zanvat limiter is too loose making it quite a little annoying to some poses with the sword since the limiter slides by itself from time to time.

Overall:
Well, being an exclusive, he sure was quite expensive but that's only if you live outside Japan, if you live there, then this insanely well-detailed and colored Rider is a steal already. Though as limiteds, they don't usually have part swaps but still the figure itself especially this since it wasn't a repaint of anything AND it's actually a complete new mold which was later on reused for Dark Kiva as a regular release, he's too much worth what you pay for already.

Remarks:
Details - 9/10
Paint - 10/10
Accessories - 10/10
Poseability - 9.5/10
Price - 10/10

Overall: 9.7/10

Anyway...

Beware! that Sword pumps! =))

Well, I have to say, I'm totally impressed even though when this was released, I was completely thinking of passing on it but thanks to Decade, he made me get this (yes, seriously, this is Decade's fault) And now, he's one of my grails, the Kiva SICs are really pretty much a good line to complete since by far, I've been contented. Emperor is, as I mentioned in Kabuto's review, one of the best Ultimate Forms in SIC rendition. I'd say it is one of the must haves in the entire SIC line.
