Kotobukiya's Upcoming 1/7 Blanc Neige -Swimsuit version-
And now, it seems Koto's joining the swimsuit bandwagon.
Anyway, as for me, I already love how the first Wind version of Koto was made but heck, this one's also lovely and certainly, she does have her own winning which I won't be mentioning anymore. :p
The base is somewhat similar to how Max's Shining Wind swimsuit line's bases were made, so, this kinda allows you to display them altogether. And as you can see above, the cloth on her waist can, of course, be cast off at will. Oh, that cloth is made up of some translucent plastic, so, pretty nice touch I guess.
Neige swimsuit is out for a July release for 7140 yen. Already ordered mine too XD Anyway, pic from Koto's release info page.

Review: [Kotobukiya] Elwing - Goddess of the Forest -

Figure Info:
Manufacturer:
Kotobukiya
Series:
Shining Tears. Shining Wind
Scale and Height:
1/6 and around more than 35cm tall from base to highest tip of Elwing
(I can't measure it exactly but she's bigger than the tallest space in the cab)
The Goddess of the Forest
Well, basically, she's my 2nd Elwing but I already sold my old one. But anyway, a quick recap on Elwing, she's a princess in Shining Tears, but when it came to Wind, she probably wasn't anymore but then joined up with Soma's party to form their group once more. Now, going to the version, this version of Elwing was based from the cover page of Tony's Artworks from Shining World, base art can be seen below.
Okay, been a while since I made a review in the reviews carousel. XD
Box/Packaging:
Technically speaking to fit something which is more than 35cm tall, the box would most like be higher but still a pretty nice box if I might say, the side contains Elwing's base base while small windows are provided aside from the front to inspect the item. Really nice and they did diverge from the typical Koto SW box style probably since she's a 1/6 scale.
Face and Photogenic appeal:
Face-wise, no questions asked, Koto's Goddess of the Forest is truly a Goddess, she is by far the most Tony-Art-Accurate Elwing in terms of the face, since other Elwings would just blow up when it comes to the head. Elwing's really really pretty and this is probably the only Elwing that gave me the satisfaction of giving off a pretty face.
Photogenic wise, as you can see above, she wouldn't look awkward at different angles unlike say GSC's Saber Lily or Koto's Leon. Hit her with shadows and she'll look more gorgeous.
Body and Details:
For someone who owned the first Koto Elwing, I have to say I will have to bash one particular detail with this Elwing, despite the beauty of it all, her angel wings are now less detailed unlike the first one which made it good. Anyway, you can think of Goddess of the Forest as one big swimsuit figure, she doesn't really wear much, enough to cover her private parts and a dashing skirt-like cloth wrapped around her legs. Her "outfit" are made of soft material. Though, probably one of the biggest shoots I'll fire here would be the different of the skirt-like cloth to the one she's wearing since viewing it overall kinda feels weird seeing one that is translucent while the other's just plain opaque, they could've just picked one and did the same for the other. But anyway, after a little nitpicking there, you would just have to love the translucent skirt since it does give this "glow" when you hit it with light making the figure look really nice. Anyway, detail parts below.

Base:
Base was pretty much made there to just hold her, like all the SW figures of Koto, Elwing is still screwed to base, thus, adds to the durability since the risk of breaking pegs are out of the question already. Her base is just one translucent circle but at least not pringles-cap like. Though it's pretty simple, the blend with her skirt just fits very well, as if the base itself is part of the skirt.

Overall:
For a Koto fig, she's of course not that expensive, and when Koto said she's a 1/6 scaled figure, you really get a 1/6 figure. For a price even cheaper than some of GSC's 1/8 and 1/7s these days, she's really REALLY worth it, Koto does seem to be able to nail it when their figures are at the 1/6 scale. :D

Rating:
Face and Photogenic Appeal - 10/10
Body and Details - 8/10
Base - 10/10
Price - 10/10
Average: 9.5/10
Okay final comments, for anyone who's been collecting Shining Wind figures, she's definitely a must get as well as for Elwing fans like me. Not only is she ridiculously huge and sexy, she's also by far the best Elwing so far in my book. Truly the title "Goddess" fits her. Well, you know me, if the score's 8 or lower, it means, it probably on the rip-off level already; below 9, it means it's just so-so; 9 means good; if the average sums up to 10, it means it's as good as a holy grail type figure for me already.

Final June Hauls - Otoya and the Goddess
Got these two on the last half of June.
The random title this time "Otoya" is actually from a character in the series where the SICs came from, Kamen Rider Kiva. I labeled it Otoya since he was able to become both IXA and Dark Kiva in the series. Probably one of the best SIC packs to date, two of Kiva's best suit design packed in one and the finish of SIC on them is really really nice!
Next stop is what I got during the Asia Cosplay Meet, it was long at hand but I finally got her since it might be problem if I lose a job and further delay the hold. Well, she's so far my biggest large figure in the collection and the only 1/6 scale in it. Best Elwing to date by all means, looking forward to shoot her but my queue's not progressing fast enough XD Anyway, these are my June ender hauls.

Upcoming Goddess of the Wind Xecty

Her orders just started last week but...
Well for something non-haul post, I've decided to focus on this one today, supposedly last week but I was out during the weekends. I suppose I can post non-reviews on weekdays (stupid me). XD
The much awaited pair for Kotobukiya's recently released(?) 1/6 Goddess of the Forest Elwing was revealed to be up for pre-orders last week, however... something's really bugging me about this, even though she's intended to be with Elwing, Kotobukiya completely based her from the artbook, giving Xecty the same pose orientation as Elwing, what's the major problem? If you want to display them both, you can't do it side by side since it will look awkward seeing both of them have the same orientation, one way is to display them back to back but not all cabs are friendly with this type of display. Anyway, if you're a Xecty addict, this is definitely a must get. As for me, I think I'll be passing on her... Why? One thing disturbs me the most, it's how her lips were made, I mean previews are supposed to attract people but her lips seems a little off to me no matter how I look at it. I might just wait and see how Max's swimsuit will come out or just stick to my soon to arrive Xecty Military Uniform version. Anyway, what do you think?

April Haul: Another Link
Well, April was filled with some impulse buys (SIC and Saika) but I hope those are the last. Meh, to cut the long story short, Seena was a gamble haul, meaning I didn't really pre-order this but I mailed sir pats of wasabi toys for an extra stock, well, virtually, there was none but I was put in the wait list in case this was dropped. So, I was mailed and I asked if they can reserve it to me for until this month, and to be fair, they had to ask the others in the wait list first since I mailed that last month, turns out that people in the list passed and so, this was reserved to me until the end of this month, but I got it asap of course :p So, with the disappearance of my Koto Seena comes this new and better one, which is none other than Orchid Seed's Seena Kanon taken from Tony Taka's art where Seena had long hair. (which was her look apparently in Shining Wind Another Link) XD
Anyways, if you've noticed all I've posted this month so far were hauls. Busy last week and looks like I'll be out this weekend but I'll do some reviews by next week and some minor random entries. XD

Wonder Festival 2010 Winter Showcase
Today is another day where figure collectors like me gets surprised and prepare our wallets burn yet again as today is Wonder Festival Winter 2010! And as usual, we get a show case of new and upcoming products from the different figure manufacturers at Japan, but I will only focus on GSC, Max Factory and Alter but will also mention other companies along the way, photos mostly from HobbyStock Blog.
Okay, unlike the past Wonder Fest blog I did, I'd take this time by series. So first we drive into Fate series where we recently got an announcement of a figma Rider and also, this time WF showcases Mordred (Red Saber/Saber Extra) with her weapon. But to the surprising extent, we now get to see a fully colored Saber Alter figma, last hinted 2 years ago when Saber Lily's figma was released. And finally, to many people I know, we get to see a a prototype of Archer's figma, yes! Archer! Rejoice Archer fans! Below are previews of Saber Alter and Archer:

If that's not enough, we now go to the Nendoroid line as GSC presents us a colored Nendoroid of Saber, yes, the real Saber this time and not some weird facial expression. XD

Moving onto the next. Recently, we get a sneak preview from Alter via text that they'll be continuing their Nanoha line and leaves us with an announcement of StrikerS Vivio in her Kaiser mode and of course, if there's a Nanoha, there's also got to be a the Movie 1st version of Fate, and here we see them.

If that's not enough, GSC also shows prototypes of a Nendoroid Puchi for the Nanoha Movie which includes Nanoha, Fate, Yuno, Chrono and Arf.

Since the Haruhi film is around the corner, guess what's GSC and Max have done?
Of course, the answer is additional figmas and nendos. Figma showcases had the loli version of Haruhi from when Kyon got back in time, a future Mikuru and a Haruhi version straight from the film, where it takes place in an alternate world.

To continue with the Haruhi movie, GSC gives us a peek at new nendoroids from it in the forms of Haruhi and Yuki.

Related to Kyo-Ani, we now go to K-On! and boy manufacturers sure are milking it pretty much, we now get a new Mio and the colored Azusa from Alter.
If that's not enough, Max Factory shows their own as 1/7 scales of Mio and Yui are shown along with the remaining unannounced figmas. Really now, I dunno if K-On! fans would be happy or not with all the insane rate of releasing K-On! collectibles.
Ridiculously as it may sound, but with some twist of fate, Max Factory got the license to do figmas for a particular Kamen Rider series, which is Dragon Knight, the ever so known western adaptation of the 3rd heisei series, Kamen Rider Ryuki, and though, the license is for Dragon Knight, the suits really have no whatever difference from Ryuki, so you can count them as Ryuki products, starting with figmas of Dragon Knight (Ryuki) and Wing Knight (Knight)
Also a worthy note would be the milking of Senjougahara from Bakemonogatari from different companies, the images below would be GSC's 1/8 scale fig and of course a teaser of the figma.
Senjougahara figures from Kotobukiya and Movic are also revealed in this event.
And finally for my series sums, we go to Black Rock Shooter's universe. I've been wishing for a Dead Master figure ever since BRS's first fig was announced and look what Max and GSC do? Bombard me with 4 new DM figs, really nice huh? Anyway, we get to see a colored nendo of BRS as well as a peek of DM's Nendo, figma also showcases colored products for the two characters.

If those weren't enough BRS milking, we now see the completed BRS anime version as well as two, YES TWO, Dead Master figures: one is to pair up with the anime version and the other to pair up with the first BRS release, hoo boy, I really like DM and I'll be shrining her since her reign is beginning. :p
Finally done with the series sums and now for the figure lines remaining for the 3 companies stated above.
Alter is now starting their Altair line, a figure line for large scaled male figures similar to MegaHouse's G.E.M. line. I dunno who the other one is but we also get a preview of Tales of Vesperia characters for this line. ^^ Good news to Tales fans and those who like male figs.
So for the last bunch of figmas, a little surpising but definitely nice. A figma of KOS-MOS in her version 4 appearance and dun dun dunnnn, Michael Jackson! YES, MJ! IN HIS THRILLER LOOK TOO!
For the Nendos, I really don't know most of them since I only know Feena and the other one which would be a character from Strike Witches. Also, it is revealed that the 100th Nendoroid is classic company character Mickey Mouse! XD Also, previews for Touho's Nendo Puchi set.
Finally going to large figures. Here are Alter's remaining line ups, notable for me would be Koromo from Saki and Clalaclan's completed painted protype:

Finally remaining figures from GSC which I really have no idea of who they are (I really should start watching more anime) XD

Well, I'm done here. You can look at more reports from kumo's blog, 2chan, Hobby Stock Blog, Figure/GK, Amiblog and many more... ^^
