May Hauls: The Impulse Bunch

All of these... weren't really on my pre-orders

A bunch of impulse buys I guess and 2 gifts! =))

Well, to start off, first among these hauls would be the TF Prime RID ones, I don't really dig the Arms Micron line because of the stickers and that's what made me get the Hasbro releases since if you had noticed I would usually prefer getting the Takara releases except when Hasbro proves to the be the better one for my preference or when there's a slight or no difference at all like the Movie lines and lastly, when only Hasbro has it like PCC (but United line will be releasing 4 PCCs soon) But anyway, we only have wave1-3 here (I think) and aside from Soundwave and Wheeljack, Vehicon is amongst the top list of hard to find since people usually hoard them (I understand the army builders but scalpers... well... screw it :p) And I happen to come across 1 and instantly got it with Ratchet being tagged along the purchase since I really love Prime's Ratchet and for once on my time for the TF collection, Hasbro has done a very clean white on Ratchet making the Takara an instant pass for me. XD

Next up would be some nendo petits from Madoka, I didn't really intend on buying them but when a friend of mine opened a group buy I just had to get the Blue Justice Girl lol, Sayaka of course, so, I instantly reserved the two and got them during Team Onii-chan's last display which was at Vocafusion.

And last but not least, a friend of mine went to Japan so I asked him to get me a G2 Gamera for a nifty price (cheap blogger is cheap lol!) and he got me one for 2.6k yen, a fair enough price I guess; after I got him, another friend of mine reminded me of an available UN WfC Prime around, so, when we checked, he was still there, and I bought it at a steal price since he IS quite rare already these days and thus also completes my WfC Rival pair. The Charlotte strap and the other one beside her, a *you know* doujin of Cure Peace are souvenirs from Japan that my friend gave me. I wasn't expecting a doujin and Cure Peace to boot @.@ oh well, hahahaha. But anyway, that's it for my final hauls this month.

Max Factory's Figma Kyouko Sakura Reissue

Joing her yuri buddy yet again even in resale!

It's very surprising actually.

Though Kyoko is not really part of the most wanted figma resales, she's still getting it and is joining her yuri buddy in the resale. Again, those who weren't able to order before, you can order now and get this figure, I still haven't fully played with mine yet but she is pretty well made; I'd probably up a 5-part Madoka figma review soon enough so stay tuned!

Also to be released in October; she's still priced at 3500 yen. Image and info from GSC's product page.

Max Factory's Figma Miki Sayaka Reissue

First wave of rereleases for the figma line!

And it's Sayaka, oh yeah!

Again, as part of the most wanted rereleases for the figma line, Sayaka starts it off and surprisingly along with the recent Homura school uniform version, they're pretty much the only 2 entries from Madoka although a certain Mahou Shoujou is joining Sayaka for a rerelease even though she was included in the votes. I've yet to put up the review but hopefully I'll be able to in the next few weeks.

Sayaka is set for a resale on October for 3500 yen. Image and info from GSC's product page.

Good Smile Company's Upcoming 1/8 Kyouko Sakura

And here comes the final girl!

A week late but meh, I was busy with piled up office work (and was playing DN at nights as relaxation)

Since Kyoko wasn't part of the "visual key concept art" that was the basis of the original 4 girls; Kyoko is made by default with her spear and is rather posed dynamically compared to how plain the other 4 looked like; while definitely, in a way, she will look like the odd one out from the 5, GSC also made it so you can display her with the original key concept poses for the other girls by providing Kyoko with an extra arm that holds a Taiyaki!

Kyoko is slated for a September release for 7800 yen. Images and info from GSC's product page.

Review: [Banpresto] Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica DX Figure 2: Miki Sayaka

Figure Information
Manufacturer: Banpresto
Origin Series: Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
Scale: Non-scale
Height: Approximately 16cm tall
Original Price: 1,600 Yen (HLJ based)

Figure Packaging:

While the packaging isn't something worth praising since it has no windows and all and the how the figure itself looks like is just cut and pasted there in front; the background is certainly notable especially for the silhouettes of the Magical Girls below and if you happen to flip it to the backside, the witches also have their silhouettes there. So, it is pretty fun background wise.

The figure itself is just stored around 1/2 or 1/3 the box height since you'll need to "assemble" Sayaka first to display her.

Figure Details:

While Prize figures are not that notable for details since they pretty much lack it most of the time; I must say that Banpresto did quite a neat work on trying to improve the quality of prize figure details; while everything else is painted at an average satisfactory level, there enough frilly parts going on; and I love how the blue in her chest area turns out to be glossy as it should be XD The choices of blue are are pretty much spot on for Miki and the gold trims really do stand out.

While being worth on the paint apps, I must comment on her skirt; it really is well done and it gives a great texture look with it; they also did not fail to include the crescent on her belly; though it could have used a better color since the shade of blue used feels kind of odd.

Lastly, the base! I'm impressed with it actually, aside from slipping away from the usual plain and boring thin round bases, this actually has that sort of elevation included. And to outrun the incoming dullness of a semi altered round base; they actually made some details and with the character's Soul Gem in the center along with the character's name. I do think it would be better off without the name though but yeah, personal preferences. XD

Appeal:

Banpresto did a wonderful job on capturing Sayaka's energetic side and the face though not a 100% accurate does give Sayaka justice for being her first bigger scaled figure. While the pose is somewhat dull, it does give Sayaka a cute feel around her; making the pose a somewhat part of the figure's pros as this certainly compliment her face. Alternatively, covering her face also gives the twisted Sayaka feel in some cases and that is definitely cool.

I guess even if the pose was a con; I can't really complain about it since prize figures do get as dull as they can most of the time; and Sayaka certainly is above the totally dull posed prize figure.

Final Thoughts:

It is pretty rare that I take a liking to prize figures and I must say Bapresto's Sayaka is a pretty figure; definitely worth the price tag for a fine made prize figure. The pose might be dull to me and some others but that doesn't entirely kill the potential of this figure. And collecting her with the other 4 would definitely be neat to look at. Sayaka fans, I'd definitely recommend picking this one up, it's just a waste passing up on such a cheap wonder.

I'd rate this figure a 4 out of 5

Recent Hauls: Magical Characters, Warriors and a Scientist

It's a pretty big mass of unblogged stuff...

But the lower picture was just obtained 3 days ago XD

Okay, so, having been busy going out and playing sometimes annoying Dragon Nest. I wasn't able to blog that much and thus, missing my ability to actually phost the last wave of April hauls on April itself. loooool. But Anyway, April hauls consists of articulateds and a certain nerdy yet wonderful scientist named Makise Kurisu in her scaled figure form by Good Smile Company. Anyway, figmas consists of Mami and Kenshin, Mami was a no brainer since she is my 2nd favorite in the series while Kenshin, well, she looked awesome even if I am not familiar with the eroge itself XD And last but not least, completing my Max Heart cast is SHF Shiny LoliLuminous, who also happens to be in my top list from my favorites in the cureverse. XD

Moving on to the main month hauls, this is probably going to be my grandest haulage of the month, notable for finally completing my Madoka Mahou Shoujo figmas with the yuri buddies, Sayaka and Kyoko arriving at the same time. XD Adding up to my Sayaka fangasms would be her nendo who also happens to have been released last month. XD

Now Wheeljack and Kurisu are actually hauls from the first day of the month after the pigfest we did at PapaJohn's unlimited Pizza promo. While the TF Prime RID line was just released late month there are quite notorious pieces who bites the dust quickly namely Soundwave, Vehicon and Wheeljack for being the top 3 hardest to find pieces after the release. Luckily, I informed my friend about it and he volunteered to get me a Wheeljack and so I finally got him! Also from the same friend, I also got figma Kurisu for a friendly price despite how much she's picking up these days...

And last but not least would be my 2 scaled figure hauls, while I've been into articulates since some time last year, I still can't pass up some scaled figures and in this case, Alter's Luke and Phat's Ran. While Luke is a must have since I am a Tales series fan, the figure itself is good and I can't wait to have the time to shoot him and put up a review. Ran, on the other hand, while looking pretty cute thanks to my favorite sculptor, YOSHI, is pretty much worth every penny; would you believe that Ran actually weighs 1kg? Phat did an amazing job by making his fox tail totally solid plastic, you really can feel the weight if you hold the box in person. XD

But anyway, that's it for now, bandai news will follow after a certain late bandai product news, looool.

February Hauls: The First Half Bots and Magical Girls

So yeah, pardon the slow updates since I've been really busy at work recently @.@

Anyway here are hauls from the first half XD

Well first thing's first I also was unable to post my last two hauls last month which are two more TFs, namely PCC Bombshock which I can now stop pursuing since I only have around 1 or 2 more nice to haves from the line but not necessarily something that I need to get. Sandstorm also closes my HA from DotM since he was the last must have for me, especially now that I also got Whirl who was another nice to have.

Now my first few was Takara editions of the first Edition molds for Bulkhead and Cliffjumper from the Transformers Prime series, many thanks to my usual source for making me able to get these two (and I should be bringing home Prime by next month).

Next would be two blonde magical girls; my Touhou figmas are now one more step to being completed now that I got Marisa and at a really cheap price too courtesy of a friend of mine ^^. Also my first Nendo from the Madoka series arrives and it's none other than my first favorite in the series, Mami! (only to be later replaced by Sayaka XD)

Lastly, as I have said above, Whirl was a nice to have but my sister paid half of it sooo, I got it, thanks sis! :D And next is Guzzle, I was amazed how much he homages his G1 self and so, I wanted to try at least 1 Cyberverse toy, he does look too puny when compared to a scout class but yeah, I still need to see if Guzzle will remain in my collection in the long run or not, in case he does, then expect MakeToys Seaspray and Powerglide to come home in the future too looool.

But that's it for this haul post. I still have a lot of reviews coming but I'm really just busy so I can't post them right away T_T

Good Smile Company's Upcoming 1/8 Miki Sayaka

Finally~ Sayaka-chan!

One of the best news of the month for me 8D

First comment would be that I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE the face so much, they friggin' captured Sayaka-chan quite well. The details look really crisp especially on that diagonally cut skirt of hers , the glossy breast armor kinda throws me off though but we'll see once the figure's released and she's a no brainer get actually!

Like all the previous 3 scaled figures, she also comes with weapons and wielding two swords yet again~ Though I have to comment it doesn't go well as much as with Mami and Homura's cases since Sayaka's face looks too calm for the blade pose. XD

Sayaka is scheduled for a June release for 7800 yen. Orders started last week Thursday and as for me, already ordered one. XD Images and info from GSC's product page.

Good Smile Company's Upcoming Nendoroid Akemi Homura -School Uniform version-

Another Moemura!

And this time in nendoroid form! ^^

While having a default smile, Nendo Moemura comes packed with loads of accessories; she comes with a blanket, a golf club, sitting parts and a very low spirited face plate.

Additionally, she also comes with a bag, and a new head for the present Homura, as well as arms that will allow you to recreate her signature pose in the main visual poster of Madoka Magica.

Lastly, similary to the figma, she comes with Madoka's ribbon, a bow and an arrow. But the most surprising thing is they included that witch wings she grew at the last few minutes of the show.

Like the figma, she will be part of Good Smile's offering for wonder fest winter 2012 and there's also alternate ways you can get it which you can look in here. She's priced at 3500 yen.

Max Factory's Upcoming Figma Akemi Homura -School Uniform version-

Another figma EX coming our way~

And here's the start of a bunch of late news...

And so, we have more moemura coming our way! While equipped with her default shy expression, she also comes with a closed eye face. Of course, as an added bonus, you can always use the body frame to recreate the present Homura in school uniform.

But wait, if you think it's easy to pass on, you might regret it... She also comes with a hairpiece with Madoka's ribbon it! As well as an additional serious face for mahou shoujo Homura.

Additionally from the bow and arrow she's using in the epilogue (which also comes with the package), she also comes with two new firearms! A really surprising move.

Figma Moemura here will be part of Max Factory's offerings for the upcoming Wonder Festival Winter 2012, of course, it will have an online release as well. Figma Homura school uniform is priced at 3000 yen. And since there are quite a number of ways to get her, you can read on at GSC's product page.
