Make or Break # 2: Transformers Prime Arms Micron
Part 2 of the make or break series focuses more on the "Make" side, as it is my first attempt to neatly build model kits (since I just use scissors back when I was a kid to build GunPla). Now, since I collect Transformers as well, it was quite inevitable that I get some from the notorious (for me) Arms Micron line of Takara Tomy as there are some Takara-only products for some of the notable designs/characters of the Transformers Prime series.

Hauls: A Month and a Half's Pile Up

Well, here's a major lootfest, since I wasn't able to post them for a while due to business (with work, Team Onii-chan activities, Dragon Nest and dear homerunchan).
But anyway, a breakdown of the loots (do not that there is 1 figure set that I wasn't able to take a picture of XD):

So yeah, one of these miraculously got a rather "quick" turnaround time for me to review and it's none other than the BRS DVD Box which contains figma Insane Black Rock Shooter; I also happen to have lent IBRS along with Yukari and Sayaka during our recently concluded display at Otaku Expo Reload, coverage of which you can view at my facebook fanpage or at Team Onii-chan's fanpage.
The list of hauls also makes me taking on new Transformers lines such as the Animated line with Prowl being my first from the line, also opening me in stepping into the what I dread/spite, the Arms Micron line with Breakdown (since he's a Takara exclusive) and Vehicon (for army building purposes). Also, I've managed to snag a Kre-O set and finally got an answer to my biggest Kreon question: "Can Kreons clip to a regular Transformer's clip on ports?" and the answer is a big YES, really tight fit too!
The others are a bunch of the usual articulated figures and scaled figures I've been hauling and actually Cure Lemonade and AM Vehicon are gifts from my friends. So... yeah, as much as I want to review some of these, my review area is temporarily unavailable due to the fact that it's being used as a box storage right now. My sister promised to help me clean up, so... once that's done, reviews would probably be back to be being more frequent. But anyway, that's it for my hauls. XD

February Hauls: The First Half Bots and Magical Girls
So yeah, pardon the slow updates since I've been really busy at work recently @.@
Well first thing's first I also was unable to post my last two hauls last month which are two more TFs, namely PCC Bombshock which I can now stop pursuing since I only have around 1 or 2 more nice to haves from the line but not necessarily something that I need to get. Sandstorm also closes my HA from DotM since he was the last must have for me, especially now that I also got Whirl who was another nice to have.
Now my first few was Takara editions of the first Edition molds for Bulkhead and Cliffjumper from the Transformers Prime series, many thanks to my usual source for making me able to get these two (and I should be bringing home Prime by next month).
Next would be two blonde magical girls; my Touhou figmas are now one more step to being completed now that I got Marisa and at a really cheap price too courtesy of a friend of mine ^^. Also my first Nendo from the Madoka series arrives and it's none other than my first favorite in the series, Mami! (only to be later replaced by Sayaka XD)
Lastly, as I have said above, Whirl was a nice to have but my sister paid half of it sooo, I got it, thanks sis! :D And next is Guzzle, I was amazed how much he homages his G1 self and so, I wanted to try at least 1 Cyberverse toy, he does look too puny when compared to a scout class but yeah, I still need to see if Guzzle will remain in my collection in the long run or not, in case he does, then expect MakeToys Seaspray and Powerglide to come home in the future too looool.
But that's it for this haul post. I still have a lot of reviews coming but I'm really just busy so I can't post them right away T_T

January Hauls: Miku and The Transformers
Last wave of hauls for January!
And this sums up my hauls from today til 2 weeks ago.
So yeah, first of the 4 is actually Jazz, from two weeks ago, lol. With the help of my friend, I was able to win United Jazz for a very cheap price despite the fact that he used to be rare and still quite expensive right now. I've tried the RTS version but UN really wins it for me for some reason, maybe the whiteness of it and the non existent rubsign which I don't really dig.
Next is my hauls from last week, figma Racing Miku finally arrived and yessss she also marks as my 36th Miku in the collection. >:) I'm actually surprised that her price right now is batsh*t expensive and luckily I got mine for quite a friendly price. :) Also, Maketoy's Battle Tanker upgrade also arrived last week so I got it and I immediately assembled it to get rid of derpy ol' Laser Prime.
And from today's Lazer Tag session with JPToysPH, I grabbed up Cyclonus from the 3-pack since I've always wanted it and not rodimus and galvatron since I have other targets for their molds. I got it loose for 600php which is a pretty neat price and the joints are also tight. :D
Anyway, here ends my current haul post!

October Hauls: First Half Bulk
Managed to snagged these guys from last week to yesterday XD
Thus, the first half bulk.
SIC FJ and Skull were my hauls from last week also at the very start of the month, since I had to finally get it from my supplier and hopefully I'd be able to review it soon since as you know, collecticon yesterday and today, so, no new reviews this week, just some backlogs again.
As for the TFs, as news got out that the generations line got marked down, I was really targeting either Kup or 3 Scourges, but none of them were there when I visited the mall's toy store and saw Lugnut instead (also marked down and now hard to find at the said price). I really wanted him before and when I got the chance I still hesitated though but after flipping 3 coins and getting 3 heads, I got him lol. Lastly, for the Sons of Cybertron, well, the collecticon sure was a nice spot for finding some good TF deals and this was one of them, priced at approximately 40 USD, I immediately got it as it does fetch much higher in GH and I've always wanted the clear Rodimus (but as for Optimus, I might just sell him though lol). Anyway, that's it for now.

Review: [Takara Tomy] Transformers United Darkside Optimus Prime

As far as the exclusive ones of United goes (like the Bots and Cons 3-pack) it comes in a box; and slightly diverging from the regular white package of the United line, this really represents what it's supposed to be, Darkside! Being in a grayscale color, this pack also features a new head to head by replacing the earth modes of Prime and Megs with their Cybertron Modes which looks a lot better IMO and the overall design just fits the theme, the back of the box though just had their regular release's epic shots in grayscale. Still a pretty darn good box though :>

Though Darkside Prime is a direct recolor of War for Cybertron Optimus, his Nemesis Prime color scheme does turn the cybertronian truck (?) alt mode into something that looks like a Bat Mobile. The finish of the glossy black finish and the teal does actually work better for a vehicle's headlights as opposed to the original's shades of pink (hasbro or takara); the red shields also makes it look more like a real Bat Mobile (lol!) Though one thing is off for me and that's the plastic gray here but at least it's not cheap looking plastic though. XD
For a sort of stealth force-ish mode, you can flip the lever and have his standby mode gun automorph into its attack mode and turn it into a destructive Bat Mobile Cybertronian truck!
Now in the bot mode, and as usual, nothing has been changed about the mold, though detail wise this is not your average black Optimus, since you know Black Optimus Primes are still really autobots since he's not Nemesis Prime (except for Alternity Super Black of course); The Darkside isn't just a name, it's really an evil Optimus and even though this guy has no backstory or anything, I guess the best explanation is that he's been corrupted by Dark Energon, thus, turning our heroic leader into a con himself, which makes the biggest difference of all aside from the color.
Though I still don't have the original UN Cybertron Prime, I've seen it first hand since my sis had one and I must say that the finish on Bot mode is far better since the black are solid overall since it's flat all throughout his body and no black shade shift unlike the color shift that had happened in the red version (which shifted from metallic red to plastic red) so yeah, this is a good bonus for a change, he does have kibble but it doesn't look that bad IMO so, no real complaints here except or the plastic gray again. The Nemesis Prime colors really does work with this mold very well and Prime really looks menacing (along with that Decepticon logo)

Courtesy of my sis, here's a comparison with the UN regular WfC Optimus. (The back shot had a mistransformed back though, apologies XD)
Though possessing only a blaster, it has 2 alternative ways of being attached aside from having DS Prime to just hold the blaster, you can choose to attach it to the 5mm port on the side of his arm or the wheels on his back.
In case you don't want to use his gun, you can always fold it up and store it on a peg found on his back.
Probably the best factor of this mold is as stated on how you can attach the gun, you can basically port 5 more 5mm weapons on him and make him a total monster and a very war freak Prime.
And of course, last but not least, he has a VERY VERY pleasing red lightpipe and it works pretty darn well and does really give you a definition of evil.

Prime has a ball joint on his neck thus, giving him extra "expression" which works wonders for this mold.
His shoulder joints consist of a swivel and a hinge so you can actually flex it better than your default ball joint thanks to that hinge. He does have a bicep swivel as well and though single hinged on the elbow, it can bend full on 90 while his wrists are swiveled though it's not completely rotatable because of a certain tab that blocks its full rotation.
His legs does look limited at first but you can actually flip the "skirt" to prevent any limitations and similarly his hips have both a hinge for sidewards split and a swivel for raising his feet. DS Prime gets a thigh swivel, double jointed hinge knees and double ball jointed ankles,
Overall, his joints are really good, and additionally as an improvement over the original mold, his joints are extra tight so it won't get loose any time soon. I guess all he really needed was a waist joint and he could've been perfect as hell for a transformer, and having 6 ports makes him get a really high play value as well, he also does a pretty good kick too. He's ridiculously good and add up some weapons and this mold's really good to go. Though one thing you might encounter is having a balancing issue with him but it's not that complicated to fix, you just need to adjust his ankle joints properly.

So yeah, haven't really tested Megs yet but knowing the mold it's pretty good as well. And Megs color scheme ain't that bad as well, I guess I'm not just used to it. But Prime, it's tried and tested already I guess. Prime is really great and I personally think the pack is worth it though I don't have Megs (my sis has it) and it's pretty cheap for an event exclusive 2-pack as well. And, of course, this Prime is a must have for any Black Prime collector!
