Rerelease: Figma Kirisame Marisa

Following Reimu is her "partner in crime" in most games, Marisa

Yes, another rerelease!

Still retaining every accessory she has and also her cheap pricepoint of 2800 yen from years back, Marisa is a sure win rerelease. I have this at hand but haven't reviewed her yet, sooo, there. She's pretty nice IMO XD But then again she's another touhou product so she's bound to be sold only specific shops. Luckily, she is available internationally via GSC online shop! She'll be rereleased on November yet again.

Details from GSC product page.

Rerelease: Phat Company 1/8 Yakumo Yukari

Those who missed out on her from before, now's your chance to get one again!

Once again the youkai of boundaries is getting another round of release!

Not much to say but this one's really good, I have one and have indeed already reviewed her just click on the image below to go to the review :D

Scheduled for a bloody November release, she's still priced at 7,800 yen. But as all touhou stuff are, she's only order-able in certain shops and one of them happens to be Amiami :D

Details from GSC's product page.

Good Smile Company's Nendoroid Sakuya Izayoi Reissue

And part 2 of the nendo first wave is the head maid~

Also my favorite touhou character, Sakuya~

Similarly to Flandre, you can also get Sakuya on the usual stores and now also made available to GSC Online Shop for international buyers! Those who have missed the chance to get Sakuya (even though she's rather rampant on online shops), here's a chance to get her on her SRP!

Also to be released on August, Sakuya's priced at 3000 yen. Now, I'm thinking if I should finally get one for myself. Image and info from GSC's product page.

Good Smile Company's Nendoroid Flandre Scarlet Reissue

Flan-chan~

Those who haven't gotten her yet, here's a big chance~

Part of the 1st wave of reissues from the poll GSC made some time ago, Flandre and one more Touhou character gets to be the first from the nendo batch. Aside from the usual Touhou ordering shops such as Niconico Choukan, animate, GAMERS and Tora no Ana; Flandre is also now available in the GSC online shop to cater to international orders (yay!)

The rerelease month will be on August and she's still marked at 3000 yen. Image and info from GSC's product page. Those interest might also want to look at the joint review I made with my dearest, homerunchan.

Recent Hauls: Magical Characters, Warriors and a Scientist

It's a pretty big mass of unblogged stuff...

But the lower picture was just obtained 3 days ago XD

Okay, so, having been busy going out and playing sometimes annoying Dragon Nest. I wasn't able to blog that much and thus, missing my ability to actually phost the last wave of April hauls on April itself. loooool. But Anyway, April hauls consists of articulateds and a certain nerdy yet wonderful scientist named Makise Kurisu in her scaled figure form by Good Smile Company. Anyway, figmas consists of Mami and Kenshin, Mami was a no brainer since she is my 2nd favorite in the series while Kenshin, well, she looked awesome even if I am not familiar with the eroge itself XD And last but not least, completing my Max Heart cast is SHF Shiny LoliLuminous, who also happens to be in my top list from my favorites in the cureverse. XD

Moving on to the main month hauls, this is probably going to be my grandest haulage of the month, notable for finally completing my Madoka Mahou Shoujo figmas with the yuri buddies, Sayaka and Kyoko arriving at the same time. XD Adding up to my Sayaka fangasms would be her nendo who also happens to have been released last month. XD

Now Wheeljack and Kurisu are actually hauls from the first day of the month after the pigfest we did at PapaJohn's unlimited Pizza promo. While the TF Prime RID line was just released late month there are quite notorious pieces who bites the dust quickly namely Soundwave, Vehicon and Wheeljack for being the top 3 hardest to find pieces after the release. Luckily, I informed my friend about it and he volunteered to get me a Wheeljack and so I finally got him! Also from the same friend, I also got figma Kurisu for a friendly price despite how much she's picking up these days...

And last but not least would be my 2 scaled figure hauls, while I've been into articulates since some time last year, I still can't pass up some scaled figures and in this case, Alter's Luke and Phat's Ran. While Luke is a must have since I am a Tales series fan, the figure itself is good and I can't wait to have the time to shoot him and put up a review. Ran, on the other hand, while looking pretty cute thanks to my favorite sculptor, YOSHI, is pretty much worth every penny; would you believe that Ran actually weighs 1kg? Phat did an amazing job by making his fox tail totally solid plastic, you really can feel the weight if you hold the box in person. XD

But anyway, that's it for now, bandai news will follow after a certain late bandai product news, looool.

February Hauls: The First Half Bots and Magical Girls

So yeah, pardon the slow updates since I've been really busy at work recently @.@

Anyway here are hauls from the first half XD

Well first thing's first I also was unable to post my last two hauls last month which are two more TFs, namely PCC Bombshock which I can now stop pursuing since I only have around 1 or 2 more nice to haves from the line but not necessarily something that I need to get. Sandstorm also closes my HA from DotM since he was the last must have for me, especially now that I also got Whirl who was another nice to have.

Now my first few was Takara editions of the first Edition molds for Bulkhead and Cliffjumper from the Transformers Prime series, many thanks to my usual source for making me able to get these two (and I should be bringing home Prime by next month).

Next would be two blonde magical girls; my Touhou figmas are now one more step to being completed now that I got Marisa and at a really cheap price too courtesy of a friend of mine ^^. Also my first Nendo from the Madoka series arrives and it's none other than my first favorite in the series, Mami! (only to be later replaced by Sayaka XD)

Lastly, as I have said above, Whirl was a nice to have but my sister paid half of it sooo, I got it, thanks sis! :D And next is Guzzle, I was amazed how much he homages his G1 self and so, I wanted to try at least 1 Cyberverse toy, he does look too puny when compared to a scout class but yeah, I still need to see if Guzzle will remain in my collection in the long run or not, in case he does, then expect MakeToys Seaspray and Powerglide to come home in the future too looool.

But that's it for this haul post. I still have a lot of reviews coming but I'm really just busy so I can't post them right away T_T

2011 Year End Hauls

These are basically my hauls from the Ozine Anime Figure Special as well XD

Free Tarp wooooo~

As mentioned in the previous post, we had touhou as one of the major series lineups for our display and each series received certain tarps and unfortunately, the Touhou tarps weren't used but was still up for grabs and thanks to Sensei, I got this touhou nendo tarp featuring a mind bending "you know me so well" character lineup since my top 2 favorites are there, Cirno and Sakuya, hahaha. Youmu's the other one BTW XD

Anyway, the Racing Miku straps would be the sponsor item for the figma RQ Miku which is yet to arrive here, figma Ayase also finally arrived and since I'm back to normal blogging phase for a while, expect her review to go up very soon. Lastly, you might remember that I got Aku no Musume Rin already before but I still didn't like Rin back then... so... I sold it and I finally managed to get it back after a year lol. So yeah, these 2 figures are my final hauls of 2011. XD A bunch of reviews would come soon since I can't shoot right now due to low battery of the camera. XD

Review: [Good Smile Company] Nendoroid 141 Youmu Konpaku

Figure Information
Manufacturer: Good Smile Company
Origin Series: Touhou Project
Scale: Non-Scale
Height: Approximately 10cm tall
Original Price: 3,000 Yen

Figure Box:

Pretty similar to all nendo packaging, Youmu comes with approximately the same dimensions as that of your common nendo box. Similarly designed to her master's packaging (and she was actually released first), her box is colored in light green and instead of the sakura petals that Yuyuko bears in her box design, Youmu has the spirit symbols instead, which we can find (and see later on) on her outfit. Again, I'm not much a fan of boxes but hey, their pretty much fun to discuss (and sometimes criticize or praise) during reviews. But that's about it and let's proceed with the main dish, the figure itself!

Figure Details:

Youmu comes in a fine nendoroid representation; capturing her simple yet adorable green and white outfit down to the buttons, bow tie and her trademark spitit symbols who looks like her ghost half, Myon, actually. XD

Of course, there's also her two katanas plugged on her back and even the sheaths themselves actually differ in detail as well as the handle with one having the feather/fur/brush/whatever it is detail at the tip. XD

The choices of colors aren't something that totally amazed me but they are indeed spot on as well; if there's something I would nitpick on Youmu, it's to be her hair actually since GSC made it in a way that it looks like her hair is being blown by the wind and there aren't any other hairpiece available but still, like I said it's only nitpicking XD since I'm definitely sure Youmu's hair isn't always like that (correct me if I'm wrong though).

Of course, no Youmu is complete without her ghost half, Myon, and this nendo definitely comes along with it. Myon is made up of a bulk of clear plastic although unlike Yuyuko's spirit, I am not sure if Myon also glows in the dark.

Accessories:

Basically Youmu comes with a stand, like you've seen above, two types of sheathed katana with the brush-like material, and also a sheathed version of her other katana as well as the actual katanas themselves. Myon serves as her accessory if you want to put it at that; there are also a bunch of extra arms which can be used for dynamic poses (to be discussed later on) and what not.

Lastly, she comes with a two additional face plates; a serious one and an embarrassed/angry one which can be perfect for the anger nerve decals that comes with her (and I cannot use it since this special review of Youmu means it is not mine XD)

Now the reason why there are two types of the one of the katanas' sheathed version is because the other has a hole in it which you can insert onto the other's peg before attaching it to Youmu's back so that GSC can recreate her double sheath at the back perfectly. Also note that these sheathed versions have removable handles which can greatly help Youmu in making dynamic poses.

Lastly, her base is identical to Yuyuko's just in a different color however she use a rather old (and distasteful) clamp and a stand with a ball tip which can hold Myon.

Articulation:

Possessing the same types of joints as most nendos (nendo joints on the neck and hips and shoulder/waist swivels) Youmu is pretty much your average nendo in the general articulation BUT there's a catch to it, her base.

While having the very ability to be posed dynamically thanks to her arms and complimentary face, the stand just ruins the wonders of Youmu, basically, whenever you put Myon around (and which I did the entire shoot of this figure) Youmu's movement becomes soooo restricted and whenever you try to have her in a slashing or attacking pose, her lower half would always look pretty awkward because of the clamp and once she isn't properly supported by the old clamp, you won't be able to make her do mid air stuff.

So, ridiculously, it was her base that ruined the articulation factor. Not to mention that her sheath's peg is pretty darn thin it becomes a scary thought to do a wrong move as it might snap off without proper care.
But again, if Myon proves too much of an annoyance, you can always get it out of the picture to enjoy a more decent play level.

Final Thoughts:

Had GSC used a stand similar to Yuyuko's or Cirno's or even made a different and more poseability friendly one since Myon is included, then Youmu would've been such a decent nendo as a stand alone. But still, again if you have Yuyuko, then better get Youmu for sure however, if you're not affected by it, I guess, I leave the choice to you since I really have mixed opinions on nendo Youmu. And that's about it, many thanks to my dear, homerunchan, for making this review possible. ^^

December Hauls: An Early Christmas

First wave of Xmas hauls 8D

It really did feel like Xmas already when I brought home all these. XD

In reality, 5 of those were my pre-orders which would be the scaled figures and figma Homura, but as for SHF Cure Black and White Max Heart versions, supposedly, they are also on my orders list, but my supplier got cut-off so I wasn't able to get them; I just happened to have stumbled on them for a ridiculously cheap price which is why I got them immediately. And lastly, for Beelzebmon, well, he's really cheap at HLJ and just when they had the flat rate shipping offer weeks ago, I had Beelzebmon ordered and so I finally have all D-Arts Digimon figures released to date XD

And a non-haul but will be someone's haul in the coming Saturday, whoever gets mine for our exchange gift will receive this tiny badass gundam.

Review: [Phat Company] Yakumo Yukari

Figure Information
Manufacturer: Phat! Company
Origin Series: Touhou Project
Scale: 1/8
Height: Approximately 20cm tall
Original Price: 7,800 Yen

Figure Box:

Yukari's box is designed in a very plain manner but still ain't plain enough to be considered boring. I'm actually delighted that the box itself is very thrifty in space as it's just right for Yukari's mass; the box itself is white covered in purplish hues along with Yukari's name in the bottom right of the front window. To give a rough estimation of the size of this wide figure's box, here's a shot with figma Reimu right beside it. ^^

And as a really good way of giving accuracy of sorts, the back of the box contains the actual art where the figure was based on and without further delay, here it is~

Figure Details:

Yukari, as my very first scaled Touhou figure, managed to give me a heavy and positive impression as her details are definitely solid.

I loved the choices of paint for her especially her violet dress which in real life gives off such a magnificent color, it feels too real and actually gives that realistic feel thanks to how hard YOSHI sculpted the details on her overall dress; the inner details of her skirt proves a much more praise worthy amounts of detail as the shades definitely gives that cloth feel.

Yukari is, of course, not without flaw BUT it's a minor nitpick on my part actually, since I seriously think her hair could've used much more detail like making some strands thinner rather than a mass bulk of plastic but hey, she doesn't look bad at all, just really nitpicking at from me. XD

Her base, as a literal base is plain and boring IMO since it's just round and clear purple BUT the base is more of just a place holder as what I actually consider the "base" would be the gap she's sitting on. And to make it look more like she's really sitting on a floating gap, they actually used a clear stand arm to hold it and it actually looks really sturdy (but who knows over time what will happen XD)

While creative the base might be, Yukari's main flaw overall actually lies in here, as the eyes on the gap somewhat degraded in quality from how they were back in the prototype shots, the eyes right now look like some mild red paint were randomly spilled over it as opposed to the previous' nerve-filled eye.

Appeal:

Now, appeal is one of Yukari's good points, I seriously think YOSHI did a pretty good job on translating Yukari's face from the art to the now 3-Dimensional figure as the face looks more mature and more fitting for someone such as Yukari.

While her best angle obviously lies on where she's looking at, she actually looks good in a number of different angles; definitely a figure which I enjoyed shooting and one that I can consider as a very photogenic figure. :D

Additionally, Phat! gave us an option of removing her hat, which doesn't make much difference but still is a very welcomed addition and hatless she might be, she still looks gorgeous and I can pledge on that!

Final Thoughts:

My first Touhou scaled, definitely a worthy and satisfying one. And for someone who's not really a big name in the figure market, Phat! definitely was impressive here and I sure can't wait when Ran and Chen arrives here. I highly recommend getting this for Touhou fans and for me, she's the best Yukari scaled figure out there to date, so she's definitely worth the money! For local readers who want to actually take a glimpse of this gorgeous figure, I'll be displaying her for Team Onii-chan's biggest and final display event of the year, so do drop by! :D
