May Hauls: The Impulse Bunch

All of these... weren't really on my pre-orders

A bunch of impulse buys I guess and 2 gifts! =))

Well, to start off, first among these hauls would be the TF Prime RID ones, I don't really dig the Arms Micron line because of the stickers and that's what made me get the Hasbro releases since if you had noticed I would usually prefer getting the Takara releases except when Hasbro proves to the be the better one for my preference or when there's a slight or no difference at all like the Movie lines and lastly, when only Hasbro has it like PCC (but United line will be releasing 4 PCCs soon) But anyway, we only have wave1-3 here (I think) and aside from Soundwave and Wheeljack, Vehicon is amongst the top list of hard to find since people usually hoard them (I understand the army builders but scalpers... well... screw it :p) And I happen to come across 1 and instantly got it with Ratchet being tagged along the purchase since I really love Prime's Ratchet and for once on my time for the TF collection, Hasbro has done a very clean white on Ratchet making the Takara an instant pass for me. XD

Next up would be some nendo petits from Madoka, I didn't really intend on buying them but when a friend of mine opened a group buy I just had to get the Blue Justice Girl lol, Sayaka of course, so, I instantly reserved the two and got them during Team Onii-chan's last display which was at Vocafusion.

And last but not least, a friend of mine went to Japan so I asked him to get me a G2 Gamera for a nifty price (cheap blogger is cheap lol!) and he got me one for 2.6k yen, a fair enough price I guess; after I got him, another friend of mine reminded me of an available UN WfC Prime around, so, when we checked, he was still there, and I bought it at a steal price since he IS quite rare already these days and thus also completes my WfC Rival pair. The Charlotte strap and the other one beside her, a *you know* doujin of Cure Peace are souvenirs from Japan that my friend gave me. I wasn't expecting a doujin and Cure Peace to boot @.@ oh well, hahahaha. But anyway, that's it for my final hauls this month.

Recent Hauls: Magical Characters, Warriors and a Scientist

It's a pretty big mass of unblogged stuff...

But the lower picture was just obtained 3 days ago XD

Okay, so, having been busy going out and playing sometimes annoying Dragon Nest. I wasn't able to blog that much and thus, missing my ability to actually phost the last wave of April hauls on April itself. loooool. But Anyway, April hauls consists of articulateds and a certain nerdy yet wonderful scientist named Makise Kurisu in her scaled figure form by Good Smile Company. Anyway, figmas consists of Mami and Kenshin, Mami was a no brainer since she is my 2nd favorite in the series while Kenshin, well, she looked awesome even if I am not familiar with the eroge itself XD And last but not least, completing my Max Heart cast is SHF Shiny LoliLuminous, who also happens to be in my top list from my favorites in the cureverse. XD

Moving on to the main month hauls, this is probably going to be my grandest haulage of the month, notable for finally completing my Madoka Mahou Shoujo figmas with the yuri buddies, Sayaka and Kyoko arriving at the same time. XD Adding up to my Sayaka fangasms would be her nendo who also happens to have been released last month. XD

Now Wheeljack and Kurisu are actually hauls from the first day of the month after the pigfest we did at PapaJohn's unlimited Pizza promo. While the TF Prime RID line was just released late month there are quite notorious pieces who bites the dust quickly namely Soundwave, Vehicon and Wheeljack for being the top 3 hardest to find pieces after the release. Luckily, I informed my friend about it and he volunteered to get me a Wheeljack and so I finally got him! Also from the same friend, I also got figma Kurisu for a friendly price despite how much she's picking up these days...

And last but not least would be my 2 scaled figure hauls, while I've been into articulates since some time last year, I still can't pass up some scaled figures and in this case, Alter's Luke and Phat's Ran. While Luke is a must have since I am a Tales series fan, the figure itself is good and I can't wait to have the time to shoot him and put up a review. Ran, on the other hand, while looking pretty cute thanks to my favorite sculptor, YOSHI, is pretty much worth every penny; would you believe that Ran actually weighs 1kg? Phat did an amazing job by making his fox tail totally solid plastic, you really can feel the weight if you hold the box in person. XD

But anyway, that's it for now, bandai news will follow after a certain late bandai product news, looool.

Bandai's Upcoming S.H.Figuarts Cure Marine Super Silhouette

This time for Marine!

I don't really like Marine that much but once you get one, you're bound to get all...

Similarly to Blossom, she will have a Blue Forte Wave effect part as well as the fairy cloak; additionally with a the Marine Tact, a stand and the heart. All the while with a set of extra hands including a hand for when they use Heartcatch Orchestra.

Marine also features some added hair swivels now so that would make her as stiff as the original Marine SHF was.

Marine is scheduled for a thankful September release for the same price as Blossom's 4,410 yen. Images and info from Tamashii Web Shop's product page.

Bandai's Upcoming S.H.Figuarts Cure Blossom Super Silhoutte

Super Silhouette~~~ <3

I just love Blossom in Super Silhouette, she looks so mature <3 <3 <3

But anyway, the bad part is she's another exclusive. Although there are quite some notable changes here, by looking closely on a pic provided by tamashii of Blossom and Marine silhouettes, they're hair has seemingly been changed to allow some swiveling at certain points which does give a more playable factor.

And if that's not enough to convince you, here's the troll part, apparently Cure Blossom Super Silhouette will come with Pink Forte Wave effect parts and if that's not enough, they also have included a Fairy Cloak for her... so, basically, bandai made it to a point that would want to get the Silhouettes. Additionally, Blossom also has a heart which they hold when introducing as silhouette, as well as the usual special stand and her weapon, the blossom tact.

Blossom Super Silhouette will be released on August for 4,410 yen. Images and info from Tamashii web shop's product page.

Bandai's Upcoming Figuarts Zero Coppe-sama

It's the idol of all heartcatch fairies~

The almost expressionless Coppe-sama!

And now going to some cure news, while I was at first planning on completely passing on Coppe-sama. It turns out bandai had more in store for this static great fairy. As I've seen from cybergundam and what's stated in the web shop page, Cure Blossom, Cure Marine and Cure Sunshine will have their respective "We have saved the world" faces coming with Coppe-sama.

Coppe-sama is scheduled for a July release as well for a whooping 3150 yen.

Review: [Bandai] S.H.Figuarts Cure Moonlight

Figure Information
Manufacturer: Bandai
Origin Series: Heartcatch Precure!
Scale: Non-Scale
Height: Approximately 15cm tall
Original Price: 3,990 Yen

Figure Packaging:

Similar to the 3 previous Heartcatch SHFs, Moonlight has her flower symbol (found in the opening theme iirc) in the box while the other end has the official shot of a figure in a certain pose. Again like most boxes of Figuarts, they aren't very appealing in my eyes but it is quite nice to look at the overall design for Moonlight's box. Like most of them SHF boxes, the box features her gimmicks and whatnot. It's pretty catchy to note that moonlight's box background is made of tiny hearts (I just noticed it now lol) But anyway, this will be enough of almost needless packaging discussions~

Figure Detail:

Before I get into the juicy bits of Moonlight's details and whatnot, first of all, I have to say that Moonlight's frame is extremely thin, I know she's thin but really bandai, she's way too thin for her body and it kinda bugged me for a while but eventually grew on me sooo lol. XD

But anyway, I guess as a way to counter this somewhat minor nitpicking for me, to be in scale with the rest of the team, Moonlight does stand a lot taller than Blossom and the others since she is after all the only 17 year old cure to date. Apologies as there won't be a size comparison since it slipped my mind back when I had a shot with Moonlight. (He was also lazy to bring out the other Cures so no pic with the others, boo you, Murakami, booo!)

Anyway, heading on to the more juicy bits of details, Moonlight has a fare share when it comes to details, practically every important detail are there: the three roses(?) above her crescent hairstyle (and I didn't actually there were 3 in there!) Her brooch on her left shoulder and the difference between her arms as the right has a mitten in it.

Her long skirt also has fine detailing in terms of layers and color depth in them, which really makes it quite gorgeous to look; her default face, though at first somewhat disappointed me, looks actually really beautiful and does quite capture our tragic heroine's calm appearance.

Additionally to the previous negativity, I'm not quite sure if it is only with my Moonlight piece, but her legs are too far from each other, even squeezing them towards one another doesn't seem too effective in closing the said gap.

Accessories:

Pretty much like Sunshine, Moonlight is in no way lacking hands, she has quite around everything she needs to recreate her signature poses including the one she uses to instantly fix her hair in the crescent style. Moonlight also has 3 additional faces: an angry expression, a serious expression and a closed eyes expression.

Similarly to all heartcatch cures, she comes with her weapon, the Moon Tact, a special heart-shaped base, an extra neck joint and her dead fairy partner, Cologne. Pretty much contented with Moonlight's accessories as they are just complete in a sense!

Articulation:

Once again powered by mostly hinges with pegs that allow swiveling, Moonlight proves to have a decent overall articulation but let's get into more details shall we?

While the head has pretty good motion, there are quite a number of flaws here, one of them is because of her hair, since the whole bunch ain't fully articulation except two small strands at the back, Moonlight can only look to the side to a certain degree only; while she can fully look down, it doesn't prove so when looking upwards since that movement is way too limited for her.

Now probably the most free and the almost perfect part of the articulation points would be on her arms, as her shoulder pads are just attached to the joint itself, the whole arm rotates freely at the shoulder joint, there are also some good bicep swivels and the arms bend quite well in the elbow while maintaining a wonderful proportion and look.

The torso joint doesn't do pretty well, it's mostly for swiveling rather than hinging IMO since adjusting it from hinge would really do much.

Now for the leg, this is probably Moonlight's biggest problem; while it remains the same as the arms in terms of joints, her skirt just messes up her hip joints in a major way. The skirts, divided into layers, are actually ball jointed but again, they don't have great movement and as for my piece, one skirt layer even pops up ridiculously fast. Thus limiting her hip joint movement by a certain noticeable point. The ankles are also using the general joint so it's pretty much fine.

Poseability:

Playing around with Moonlight was both fun and annoying at the same time; while she does capture his signature poses quite well, it really is a pain to adjust her legs from time to time for more dynamic poses. But,I guess, it just takes patience to pull them off.

As you can see in the images above, her face plates does come in handy in different poses and also the number of hands available makes it even more the worthwhile posing Moonlight but again, as I've stated in the details, on overall look her legs would look too much far apart from each other and you can see an example of it below.

And as for additional fun, here she is with some other figures, namely SHF Dark Precure and Marvel Universe AIM Soldier (the usual goon and punching bag, lolol!)

Final Thoughts

Even with some disappointments with her articulation and them weird legs, I have to say she is still one good figure for the character; admitted she's not the best (coz' apparently, Sunshine is) of the 4, I could say she's still way better than how bandai made it for Blossom and Marine. Though some people might get off with her price point since she is more expensive than the previous 3, I still think she's worth the money especially if you can find her on a good deal. Moonlight might have flaws but her wonderful array of accessories does make up a bit for her loss.

I'd give SHF Moonlight a 3.5 out of 5
